Quality Conformance Inspection applied at Lunapack

The Lunapack laboratory comprises of the most up-to-date equipment for control instrumentation and the development of the ink formulas. Specialised Ink Formulation software (by GretagMacbeth), IGT test printing machine and Spectro Eye spectrophotometer (by GretagMacbeth) enables Lunapack to produce exact colours. All obtained by mixing the Pantone inks to those of the prototype sample approved by the customer. The exact transfer to print of the agreed colour is guaranteed.

During the incoming quality inspection, the following tests and analyses are carried out at the Lunapack laboratory:

• Paper and cardboard analysis to prove their conformity with their Quality Certificates and technical specifications (their mass, thickness, rigidity, whiteness, pH factors, water absorption features are also checked).
• Ink colour specifications control.
• Viscosity, hydrogen ions concentration, mass share of dry substances in glues and varnishes are controlled.

Monitoring of the manufacturing process parameters, includes the following tests:

• Cardboard temperature and humidity control (with hygrometer by HYGROMER)
• Quality control of the fountain solution in printing machines
• Printed sheets gloss measurement (by Micro-gloss)
• Creasing rigidity measurement (by Messmer Buchel K416)
• Varnish coating polymerisation level (by FOGRA-ACET)
• Printing plates wearing level control during the after-print process (by FOGRA-WIKAT).

On-going functional and finished products quality control are carried out on a twenty-four-hour basis by the inspectors of ‘Technical Control Department’; this makes it possible to reveal any defects or prerequisites that might arise. We can, as a result, initiate the necessary investigations and effect measurements at the laboratory, and as a consequence adjust the manufacturing process.

The overall quality inspection with modern control equipment and instrumentation, which is implemented at every manufacturing stage by Lunapack, is designed to ensure that our products meet the highest possible quality standards. Not only once, but time and time again.
